Alex Krumer joins CRSA as Academic Guest in 2026/27
The sports economist from Molde University College spends the coming academic year at the University of Zurich
Alex Krumer joined the Center for Research in Sports Administration as an academic guest at the beginning of August 2026 and will be based at the University of Zurich for the coming academic year. He is Professor of Sports Economics at the Faculty of Business Administration and Social Sciences at Molde University College in Norway.
Krumer's research sits at the intersection of sports economics, contest theory, behavioural economics and operational research. He combines theoretical modelling with empirical work, drawing on data from a wide range of sports to examine how the organisation of a competition, including its schedule and its order of play, affects outcomes, and how people behave in high-stakes situations. His work has appeared in journals including the European Economic Review, the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Sports Economics and the Journal of Economic Psychology.
Switzerland is familiar ground for him. Before moving to Molde, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the Swiss Institute for Empirical Economic Research at the University of St. Gallen.
During his stay at the CRSA, he will collaborate with other members on various research projects. We and all our members are truly looking forward to welcoming him and having him at the center.
