Call for Abstracts
We cordially invite researchers to submit their abstracts for the 17th Annual Conference of the European Sport Economics Association (ESEA). This conference provides a global platform for the exchange of ideas and for discussing recent developments, challenges, and opportunities in the field of sports economics.
Submissions are welcome from all areas of sports economics, including theoretical, empirical, and conceptual work. Both completed research and research in progress are eligible, but manuscripts already accepted for publication should not be submitted. The official language of the conference is English.
Abstract Submission
Authors are invited to submit an extended abstract of no more than three pages (12-point font, 1.5 spacing) that clearly outlines the theoretical framework, methodology, and main findings of the study. In-text references should follow APA 7 style, but a reference list is not required.
Abstracts must be prepared using the official template available here: https://sporteconomics.eu/conferences/abstract-template
Submissions must be sent as a PDF document by email to ESEA@crsa.uzh.ch
The deadline for submission is March 31, 2026.
All abstracts will undergo a double-blind review process prior to acceptance, and accepted abstracts will be published in the official Book of Abstracts of the conference. Should the number of papers passing the review process exceed the number of available presentation slots, only one abstract per submitting author will be accepted. The submitting author is expected to present the paper.
Best Young Researcher Paper Award (BYRPA)
Graduate students are invited to apply for the Best Young Researcher Paper Award by indicating their interest at the time of abstract submission. To be eligible, the applicant must be a graduate student serving as the lead author, and the presenting author must commit to delivering a presentation of the paper at the conference. To be considered, a full paper (maximum 30 pages, including references, tables, and figures, formatted in APA 7 style) must be submitted by July 1, 2026, to Robert Butler (r.butler@ucc.ie).
